In modern popular culture and alternative philosophy, particularly through the phenomenon known as the “23 Enigma,” the number 23 has become associated with synchronicity, cosmic coincidence, chaos and fate—the sense that seemingly unrelated events are mysteriously connected and destined to repeat. This idea of an endless, self-referential cycle is embodied by the Ouroboros, the serpent consuming its own tail: a symbol of destruction and creation as one continuous process, with no clear beginning or end.The Ouroboros represents the unity of all things, where nothing truly disappears but only changes form.

2026 marks 10 years of Magdalena Wysocka’s and Claudio Pogo’s partnership as Outer Space Press. Human DNA consists of two strands of 23 chromosomes; this publication is the DNA of Outer Space Press. 23 of Wysocka’s and Pogo’s books have been xeroxed for “23”. There are a total of 2026 pages in these 23 books. The page count of “23” is exactly 23% of 2026. Formally, “23” draws from the DIY and bootlegging culture of the 80’s and 90’s: the entire layout, editing and printing of this book were made using only two photocopiers: a Xerox WorkCentre 7425 and a Risograph MZ770. No computers were involved. The edit of this book may or may not have been done with less than 23% of intention. 23% of all Xerox printers in office environments break because of people photocopying their butts. This fact is not confirmed by anyone more credible than ‘The Mega Book of Useless Information’. Outer Space Press dedicates “23” to Jodi Stutz, who photocopied her butt on an office Xerox in 1980 and was subsequently fired. She died at the age of 29 in a tragic accident involving a stray bullet. This book is dedicated to her memory as an accidental pioneer of office-machine resistance. * * * LIMITED AMOUNT OF COPIES ARE AVAILABLE NOW FOR A REDUCED PRICE OF 65,-€, REGULAR RETAIL PRICE AFTER PRE–ORDERS CLOSE WILL BE 85,-€. * * *WE ARE ESTIMATING THE FIRST PRE–ORDERED COPIES TO SHIP MID/END OF OCTOBER, WE APPRECIATE YOUR PATIENCE * * *
